After three defeats in-a-row, Kettering Town are playing only for pride this Saturday as they host St Ives Town at Latimer Park. Their play-off hopes have faded quietly into the distance as their defensive frailties have let them down when it mattered most. Kettering won 7-0 in the corresponding fixture earlier in the season but Weir-Daley who scored 4 has since moved on.
The match gets underway at Latimer Park with both sides trying to settle early, corners at both ends but not good deliveries. The Poppies start to get a little more possession as Rene Howe plays in James Hall but his shot is blocked. More pressure from Kettering and Aaron O’Connor has a shot well saved. At the other end Gooch is called upon to make a fine save and then repeats the effort to keep his side from going behind.
An early change as Gary Mulligan is replaced by Lewis Hornby for Kettering on 32 minutes. The pendulum swings again as Hicks lines up Aaron O’Connor but his first time effort flies just wide of the upright. Brighton heads over as the ball is powered across the area and that brings the first-half action at Latimer Park to a close. Chances at both ends but still no goals.

There goes the final whistle and at least Kettering managed to avoid yet another defeat but a lack-lustre showing did little to improve their standing.
