A solid 2-0 win in midweek looks to have steadied the ship for Kettering Town after a dismal run of results that has seen them dumped out of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy and dropped to 4th spot in the league. However the win has lifted them into 3rd place just 1pt off the leaders Slough as they travel to Farnborugh looking to rebuild their momentum for the title challenge over the remainder of the season.

Goal!GOAL: The match gets underway at Farnborough with the Poppies settling quickly and attacking from the whistle. The ball is played out to Meikle on the left and his cross in is powered over keeper Cafer and into the net by Rene Howe. Great start for Poppies taking a very early lead.

Goal!GOAL: Kettering continue on the offensive after talking the lead as O’Connor fires wide of the target. Farnborough muster a shot but its well wide of White in the Poppies goal. Kettering back in the mix and win a corner. The ball in eventually finds Garry Mulligan and he curls it past Cafer and into the net from 12 yards out. Kettering are 2-0 up and looking good for the lead.

Goal!GOAL: Kettering continuing to press and look the more likely to score at this point. The ball finds Ben Toseland in space 20 yards out and he looks up and fires one past Cafer and into the top corner of the net. Poppies cruising at 3-0.

Half-time:   Farnborough 0 &nbs; Kettering Town 3

Goal!GOAL: An excellent first-half for Ketetring and they could easily have scored five or six, but will probably settle for the 3-0 cushion at the start of the second half. Farnborugh starting to see more of the ball in this second period as they begin their long fightback. A corner for the home side after Kettering had an effort cleared off the line. The ball is played in and Conor Calcutt heads solidly past White to make it 3-1.

Goal!GOAL: The home side now have the bit between their teeth and are piling on the pressure on the Poppies goal. Just after the hour mark and Farnborough reduce the deficit to just one goal as Barton looks up and fires a screamer in from 25 yards out that White cannot get a hand to. Its 3-2 to Poppies but they are looking am little shaky.

Goal!GOAL: Kettering are still creating chances but don’t seem to have that magic finishing touch that they clearly had in the first-half and ther home side looking to level the score after trailing by three goals at the break. Handball and a penalty to Kettering. Up steps O’Connor and blasts it against the bar, that could cost them dearly. Jamie Cureton makes them pay, its 90 minutes on the clock and 3-3.

Goal!GOAL: Kettering were three nothong to the good and have let their host draw level with the ninety minutes up and heading into stoppage time. Six minutes into stoppage time and Matty Stevens smashes home a cross from Meikle and Poppies are back in front at 4-3. Unbelievable game as the whistle signals a dramatic Poppies win.

A perfect first half from Kettering and should have been well out of sight, but allowed their hosts back into the game, missed a penalty that could have stopped the comeback dead, but somehow managed to score the winner six minutes into stoppage time. Great end result for the traveling support but certainly put them through the mill right up until the final whistle.
