Hucknall through to Semi's after replay

FA Trophy

Hucknall Town are through to the Semi-Finals of the FA Trophy following a narrow 1-0 victory over Conference National outfit Hereford Utd. A strike by Bacon on 31 minutes was enough to clinch the victory at Watnall Road, following the two teams 2-2 draw at Edgar St in the first match.

In the other matches, runaway Conference South leaders Grays Athletic comfortably dealt with Conference National outfit Exeter City 4-1 at the first time of asking and in the all Conference National clash Burton Albion narrowly squeezed past Woking 1-0.

The tie between Conference National side Gravesend & Northfleet and Conference South outfit Bishop's Stortford also went to a replay after the first match ended 1-1 at Bishop's. The replay went into extra-time with the two teams locked at 2-2, before an explosive 15 minute period saw two Gravesend players dismissed and then Bishop's score the winner.

The draw for the Semi-Finals of the FA Trophy was arguably favourable towards Hucknall Town after they were drawn against Bishop's Stortford, leaving Burton Albion and Gray's Athletic to battle it out for the other Final spot. The two-legged Semi-Final ties are to be played on 2nd and 9th April 2005, with the winners each receiving £16,000 and a place in the final at Villa Park on 22nd May.

Hucknall are the sole Conference North survivors in Trophy Qtrs

FA Trophy

With Altrincham going out of the Trophy at the hands of Conference North runaway leaders Grays Athletic it's now left to Hucknall Town to carry the flag for the Conference North teams into the Quarter-Finals of the competition.

The Robins were 2-0 down at half-time to Grays, pulled a goal-back on the hour-mark only to see the gap restored mid-way through the second-half. Despite reducing the deficit on 78 minutes courtesy of a penalty, Grays made sure of victory with a fourth goal six minutes from time to eventually win 4-2.

Hucknall Town went through courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over currently second-placed Conference South outfit Cambridge City with a goal on 50 minutes by Winder proving to be all that eventually separated the two teams.

In the Quarter-Finals of the Trophy Hucknall Town have been drawn away to Conference National outfit Hereford Utd, ties to be played on Saturday, 12 March 2005.
