Hinckley bow out of the Cup in replay
Hinckley Utd finally bowed out of the FA Cup after narrowly losing 2-1 to League One side Brentford in their 2nd Round replay. The Knitters were holding their own against the Bees until the 51st minute, when former Poppies player Brad Piercewright pushed a shot over the bar with his hand and was immediately given his marching orders.
The visitors gratefully accepted the penalty award and went 1-0 up when Alex Rhodes scored from the spot-kick. Plucky ten-man Hinckley fought back and were on level terms again within five minutes when Richard Lavery netted the Knitters' equalizer.
However, the Knitters' celebrations were short-lived as Brentford re-gained the lead following a breakthrough run and a solid finish by the Bees Stewart Talbot. This time there was to be no comeback for Hinckley despite battling until the final whistle and Brentford ran out 2-1 winners and now face Luton Town in the 3rd Round.

Hinckley live to fight another day in the cup
A 0-0 draw on Sunday against Brentford allowed Hinckley Utd a glimpse of their possible future, namely who would be waiting for them in the FA Cup Third Round if they win the replay.
The perhaps slightly disappointing news was they didn't get one of the Premier League 'big boys' and will have to travel to current League One leaders Luton Town should they manage to overcome the Hatter's fellow League One outfit Brentford, in a tough Second Round replay next week.
