Alfreton defeat leaves Hinckley to carry the flag in FA Cup

A 2-0 defeat for current Conference North leaders Alfreton Town in their FA Cup 1st Round Replay at the Moss Rose ground by Football League Two outfit Macclesfield Town left Hinckley Utd the lone flag bearers still surviving in the FA Cup from among the Conference North clubs.

The 1,783 crowd waited until almost the hour mark before the home side broke the deadlock through Jonathan Parkin and on 78 minutes Mike Sheron made the result safe for the Silkmen. Macclesfield Town are away to Hull City in the 2nd Round.
