Almost double figures - FA Cup roundup
It's not quite as often these days that the cricket scores crop up in the latter stages of the Qualifying Rounds of the FA Cup, but Saturday produced one scoreline worthy of note.
Hornchurch, currently in top spot of the Conference South, hammered Dulwich Hamlet, currently lying 18th in the Isthmian Division One, 9-0 with Wayne Purser leading the Urchins salvo with a hat-trick.
Despite reports to the contrary (the fact that it was posted on the FA's own website) Spalding Utd beat Hastings Utd by a single goal, and NOT 11-0, some misprint.
There are 10 teams from the Conference North left in the FA Cup after Saturday's 3rd Qualifying Round, but (once replays are resolved) only either 8 or 9 will take part in the 4th Qualifying Round and two of those teams have been draw against each other.
These are the 4th Qualifying Round ties currently involving Conference North outfits:
Halifax Town v Leek Town or Stalybridge Celtic
Hinckley United v Burton Albion
Lancaster City v Scarborough
Morecambe v Altrincham or Hucknall Town
Northwich Victoria v Vauxhall Motors
Southport v Hyde United
Stafford Rangers v Gateshead
Worksop Town v Alfreton Town
