First female footballer in the Italian Premiership?

Italian Serie A side Perugia have announced they are trying to persuade Sweden's top female player, Hanna Ljungberg, to join their club and play in the Italian top-flight against the likes of Maldini, Del Piero, Rivaldi, etc.

Perugia president Luciano Gaucci has already received a good deal of media attention when he signed Saadi Gaddafi, son of Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi, in a two-year deal in the summer. This latest announcement is sure to raise a storm of debate as to whether it's viable for women to play alongside their male counterparts at the highest level.

Rangers and Celtic in the Ryman League?

In an interview Sir Alex Ferguson gave prior to Man Utd taking on Rangers in the Champions League, he was asked about the possibility of Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers taking their places in the English Premiership. This was what he said:

"I think they would do well. With their resources, history, tradition and support of course they would do well," Ferguson added. "Mind you, they probably could not go straight into the Premier League and have to start in the Conference or even the Rymans League! Seriously, though, they would do well - no doubt about that."

It's fairly impressive that the likes of Sir Alex have even heard of the Ryman League and know where it is in the non-league pyramid, but the thought of 10,000 Rangers and Celtic supporters traveling down to London nearly every week and descending on the likes of Hornchurch, Hayes, etc is even funnier.

Mind you, the Poppies away matches at Ibrox and Celtic Park would really be something!
