Poppies sign Elding and Heslop on loan

November 4, 2009—

Kettering Town have signed midfielder Simon Heslop on a month's loan from Championship outfit Barnsley and Anthony Elding on loan from League Two side Crewe Alexandra through the festive period.

Heslop started as a trainee at Barnsley and was signed by Kidderminster Harriers before returning to Barnsley after one season away. Loan spells at Tamworth, Northwich Victoria, Halifax and Grimsby followed before Mark Cooper brought him in to improve the Poppies midfield.

Striker Anthony Elding is already well-known to Poppies supporters having spent a short spell at Rockingham Road in the first half of 2006. Elding left for Boston in the Summer of 2006 and has since played for Stockport, Leeds Utd and Crewe, where he was on loan to Lincoln City until this Summer. Elding is on loan until January 3rd 2010 and scored in his first match following his return to Kettering in their 2-2 draw at home to Wrexham.
