Kettering Town made their entry into this season's FA Cup competition at the 2nd Qualifying Round stage, hosting fellow BSN outfit Redditch Utd at the A-Line Arena, looking to continue their league form into the country's premier knockout competition. Ahead of the tie, Poppies boss Mark Cooper signed 18 year-old Sam Collins on-loan from MK Dons.
Kettering fell behind just after midway through the first-half when Exodus Geohaghan scored on 35 minutes. They gradually fought their way back into the match and eventually equalised through David Bridges to pull back on level terms at 1-1 at the end of the first period.

Poppies win 3-1 at home to Barrow
 Kettering Town 3 Brady 12 Burton 32 Marna 64
Barrow 1 Rogan 61
Kettering Town manager Mark Cooper made two changes to his starting lineup for the visit of Barrow, bringing in Jon Brady and Steve Burton for Craig Westcarr and Mark Rawle. Darren Caskey replaced Kevin Spencer on the Poppies bench.
A break following a Barrow corner saw Jean-Paul Marna surge forward from the halfway line and beat two players, but unfortunately he dragged his shot just wide of the post as the match settled down after the early tense atmosphere of the opening 10 minutes.
A free-kick just outside the box and Jon Brady spotted the Barrow keeper out of position and curled his shot over the keeper and into the net to give Poppies a 1-0 lead after 12 minutes gone. Kettering almost increased their lead with another Brady free-kick on 25 minutes but this time the header from Steve Burton was saved.
On 32 minutes, a two-on-two break for Kettering saw Steve Burton with only the goalkeeper to beat and the Poppies striker made no mistake to put the home side 2-0 up and in the ascendancy with half-time fast approaching. Barrow defended well but Kettering made the most of their limited opportunities to go into the break 2-0 in front.
Half-time: Kettering Town 2 Barrow 0

Kettering drawn at home to Redditch Utd in 2nd Qualifying Round of FA Cup
With no disrespect to our opponents in Monday's FA Cup draw, the excitement was clearly absent, perhaps partly due to being almost lost in the build up to the club's BSN league fixture at Hinckely Utd following our 'midweek' match on a Monday night.
Kettering were drawn at home to fellow BSN outfit Redditch Utd in the 2nd Qualifying Round of this year's competition, with the tie to take place on Saturday 29th September, 2007.
This year's competition, again being sponsored by E.ON, is the 127th running and attracted a record 731 entries (44 more than last season), with the showcase final of course now back at the 'new' Wembley Stadium.

Poppies stalemate at Hinckley

Hinckley Utd 0
Kettering Town 0
Kettering Town made the relatively short trip to the Marston Stadium to take on Hinckley Utd in their Monday night BSN encounter, aiming to get back to winning ways following their 1-1 draw at Workington on Saturday. Poppies boss Mark Cooper brought in Jean-Paul Marna and Craig Westcarr to the starting lineup, Steve Burton and Jon Brady started on the bench.
A fairly lively opening period at a rainy Marston Stadium saw the ball end up in the net twice, but both 'goals', one at either end, were disallowed for offside and the score remained 0-0 at the half-time break.

Poppies held 1-1 at Workington
 Workington 1 Wright 87
Kettering Town 1 Bridges 9
Kettering Town made the long trip North to Workington today looking to change their previous run of poor league results at Borough Park and in the process continue their very impressive start to the new campaign. Mark Cooper brings the fit-again Jon Brady back into the starting lineup at the expense of Joe Howe who replaces the recently departed Michael Malcolm on the subs bench.
Kettering in their Blue strip with White socks, Workington in all-Red, as an early free-kick for the Poppies is played into the box but headed behind for a corner. The resulting corner flashes across the box but no-one gets a touch on the ball as Kettering push forward from the start. The home side counter quickly and the match looks to be unfolding into a lively encounter at Borough Park.
A early ball into the box from Mark Rawle was met by David Bridges who deftly beat the home keeper to put Kettering 1-0 up after only 9 minutes on the clock. A fast break almost saw Kettering increase their lead but a vital save from goalkeeper Adam Collin denied the lively Rawle. Hopper moved forward but the final ball into the box was lacking and Kettering cleared the danger as Hall fired one over the bar after bursting through the home defence.

Poppies run continues with 3-0 win at home to Boston Utd

Kettering Town 3 Bridges 25 Jaszczun 39 Rawle (pen)71
Boston Utd 0
Kettering Town welcomed long-time rivals Boston Utd to the A-Line Arena and manager Mark Cooper opted for Steve Burton and Mark Rawle up front, with Jean-Paul Marna and Craig Westcarr starting on the bench.
Kettering were in all Red and Boston in their familiar Yellow and Black as the match kicked-off with a good crowd in attendance for a fixture which renewed the close rivalry of the two clubs, this time in the BSN. Boston settled early into the game and put the home defence under pressure, but Kettering tried to exploit the visitor's defence as they pushed out quickly and it promised to be a lively encounter.
Ellender fouled Burton for a Poppies free-kick 35yds out and in the scramble following the ball played into the box, Brett Solkhon was warned by the referee for his challenge on the visitor's goalkeeper Wright. A lashed-in effort from Tom Kemp went wide of the visitor's goal and a Steve Burton cross was almost turned into the net by Mark Rawle but was nervously cleared at the second attempt by Boston.

Poppies win 4-1 at Leigh RMI
 Leigh RMI 1 Lugsden 84
Kettering Town 4 Dempster 20 Hall 38 Bridges 65 Solkhon 74
Kettering Town play at Hilton Park this afternoon against Leigh RMI, aiming to continue their impressive start to the new season and in the process maintain their 100% record as long as possible. Cooper's only change to Monday's starting lineup was to bring in Mark Rawle in place of Craig Westcarr who starts on the bench.
A fairly good tempo in the opening stages of the match and with the traveling faithful cheering them on, Kettering settled down quickly and on 20 minutes took the lead when John Dempster headed them in front from a corner to make it 1-0.
