Poppies finally record a league victory!

Sullivan - sent-off

Kettering Town manger Kevin Wilson made several changes to his starting lineup to host Lancaster City this afternoon, not only bringing in new signings Anthony Elding and Jermaine Palmer, but also Ryan Zico-Black.

All the hype surrounding the signing of striker Anthony Elding suddenly seemed justified as Kettering took a 1-0 lead on 12 minutes when Elding found the back of the Lancaster net early into his Poppies debut.

Elding should have scored his second when Kettering were awarded a penalty following a goal-line handball, for which the offending Lancaster City player was sent-off, but surprisingly the Poppies new striker couldn't add to his earlier strike.

The surprise inclusion of Ryan Zico-Black seems to have paid immediate dividends as the former Lancaster player heaps further misery upon his old club to make it 2-0 to Kettering on 36 minutes. No further goals in the first-half.

The second-half saw the visitors holding out despite having a one-man disadvantage and the home side seemed unable to breakdown their stubborn resistance and finish them off with the 'killer' third goal.

Surprisingly the final whistle sounded with no more goals having being scored and little drama in the second-half, but the work had been done in the first-half to secure Kettering their first league win in ten matches.
