Elding off as dire Poppies lose 3-0 at Hyde
Hyde Utd 3 Dean 18 Wharton 74 McNeil 83
Kettering Town 0 Elding - sent off
Kettering Town manager Kevin Wilson shuffled his squad after Tuesday's home defeat, bringing in Ollie Burgess, Derek Brown, Jamie Gould and Dean Brennan to the starting lineup. Andy Hall, Ryan Zico-Black, Christain Moore and David Theobald all start on the bench.
Despite the wholesale changes Kettering's dire performance seems to have picked up where it left-off on Tuesday when they went 1-0 down on 18 minutes courtesy of a Wayne Dean strike. When the half-time break eventually arrived, Kettering were fortunate to still only be trailing by a single goal.
Those Poppies supporters watching and hoping for a better second-half had their hopes dashed even further when Anthony Elding was shown the red card after a clash with a Hyde player and Kettering were reduced to ten men. Given the poor first-half display and subsequent man-disadvantage, it was fairly likely that Kettering would concede further goals and hardly came as much of a surprise when the home side increased their lead to 2-0 through Nathan Wharton after 74 minutes. Hyde scored a third to make it 3-0 on 83 minutes when Matty McNeil netted.
At the final whistle it turned out to be another embarrassing performance from Kettering which inevitably ended in another bad defeat. At this stage it's difficult to see how Kettering can make the play-off's unless there's a big improvement in performances. It certainly won't get any easier with their next fixture at home to Northwich Victoria sure to be another tough test.
