Fans Forum - Tuesday 31st January 2006
Fans Forum update:
Unfortunately, Imraan Ladak and Kevin Wilson will not be able to attend the Fans Forum organised by the Kettering Town (Poppies) Supporters Trust for Tuesday 31st January 2006.
Despite this, the Trust Board will still be available (7.30pm onwards) to answer any questions on what we have been doing over the last few months and what we are looking to do (including setting up a "workers forum" whereby the Trust will be looking for volunteers, on behalf of the Club, to help out on match days etc), board representation and so on.

Elding off as dire Poppies lose 3-0 at Hyde
Hyde Utd 3 Dean 18 Wharton 74 McNeil 83
Kettering Town 0 Elding - sent off
Kettering Town manager Kevin Wilson shuffled his squad after Tuesday's home defeat, bringing in Ollie Burgess, Derek Brown, Jamie Gould and Dean Brennan to the starting lineup. Andy Hall, Ryan Zico-Black, Christain Moore and David Theobald all start on the bench.
Despite the wholesale changes Kettering's dire performance seems to have picked up where it left-off on Tuesday when they went 1-0 down on 18 minutes courtesy of a Wayne Dean strike. When the half-time break eventually arrived, Kettering were fortunate to still only be trailing by a single goal.
Those Poppies supporters watching and hoping for a better second-half had their hopes dashed even further when Anthony Elding was shown the red card after a clash with a Hyde player and Kettering were reduced to ten men.

Poor Poppies routed at home by Moor Green
Kettering Town 0
Moor Green 3 Morrison 2 Dowdall 43 Scott 68
Kettering Town manager Kevin Wilson made just one change to the starting lineup from Saturday, bringing Jamie Patterson into midfield with Hugh McAuley moving to the bench. Anthony Elding, Jermaine Palmer and Ryan Zico-Black again all started on a very frozen looking pitch.
Kettering got off to the worst possible start when they conceded a goal after only 2 minutes as Dave Morrison put Moor Green 1-0 up.

Poppies finally record a league victory!
Kettering Town 2 Elding 12 Zico-Black 36
Lancaster City 0
Sullivan - sent-off
Kettering Town manger Kevin Wilson made several changes to his starting lineup to host Lancaster City this afternoon, not only bringing in new signings Anthony Elding and Jermaine Palmer, but also Ryan Zico-Black.
All the hype surrounding the signing of striker Anthony Elding suddenly seemed justified as Kettering took a 1-0 lead on 12 minutes when Elding found the back of the Lancaster net early into his Poppies debut.
Elding should have scored his second when Kettering were awarded a penalty following a goal-line handball, for which the offending Lancaster City player was sent-off, but surprisingly the Poppies new striker couldn't add to his earlier strike.

Elding signs for Poppies
Stevenage Borough striker Anthony Elding has signed for Kettering Town for a transfer fee 'package' of £40,000.
The transfer is subject to the usual formalities and should be completed on Monday. The fee is 'performance-based' and also includes a 'significant percentage' of any future transfer fees.
Elding started his career at Boston Utd as a Youth player and made 16 starts scoring 6 goals. He moved to Stevenage Borough in February 2003 and made 100 league starts scoring 50 goals. After a disagreement with Boro boss Graham Westley his last match for Boro was in the FA Cup Replay defeat against Northampton, his equaliser earning Boro the return match.
Poppies fans have already had a chance to witness Elding's prowess in front of goal during the 3-1 FA Cup defeat by Boro earlier in the season. Elding should be eligible to make his Poppies debut at Rockingham Road on Saturday when Kettering entertain Lancaster City.

(FA Trophy 2nd Round)
Kettering Town manager Kevin Wilson made several changes to his starting line up for the trip to Conference National outfit Dagenham & Redbridge in the 2nd Round of the FA Troph with Matt Lewis, Neil Midgley and Ollie Burgess as the frontmen. Paterson and Moore start on the bench.
Kettering started well and were rewarded for their persistence on 19 minutes when Andy Hall crossed into the box for Ollie Burgess to shoot past Tony Roberts and put the Poppies 1-0 up.

Poppies sign keeper but Elding move looks doubtful
Kettering Town have signed Ryan Young as cover for goalkeeper Mark Osborn. Young played for Chasetown, Nuneaton Borough, Hucknall Town and Hednesford Town, and was between the posts for the Pitmen's 3-2 FA Trophy Final victory over Canvey Island in May 2004.
Anthony Elding's proposed move to Kettering now appears doubtful after the out-of-favour Stevenage Borough striker was quoted as saying, "With all due respect to Kettering Town, I won't be joining them. Yes, I was at the ground on Tuesday night, but I was watching my brother Darren play for their reserves. It was nothing more than that. I want to move up, not down... "

Elding confirmed as one of Wilson's transfer targets
Stevenage Borough's Anthony Elding was confirmed as one of Kevin Wilson's priority transfer targets following the presence of the Broadhall Way striker at Rockingham Road on Tuesday night.
Elding was in the stand watching his brother Darren turn out for Kettering Reserves against AFC Telford Reserves and Poppies boss Wilson stated, "We made an official offer to Stevenage for Anthony on Friday and that has been accepted." Now Wilson must wait to see if there are any other clubs prepared to make their interest official by tabling a bid.
Boro boss Graham Westley is intent on bringing some fresh faces to Broadhall Way and citing lack of funds has stated it will be a '3 in - 3 out' situation. Following Westley's public bust-up with striker Elding and his acceptance of Kettering's bid, the latter looks to have now been confirmed as one of the three on their way out at Stevenage.
However, his transfer to Rockingham Road is by no means certain just yet, as several other clubs are also interested. "From Anthony's point of view I think he wants to wait and see if he can go to a bigger club and that is fair enough. But this is the sort of player we need to start bringing in", explained Wilson.

Kettering ready to spend 'big' for new signings
With the club currently struggling to get things right on the playing side, Kettering Town manager Kevin Wilson appears to have been given the green light to spend 'big' money in an effort to halt the decline.
The club have apparently already tabled two bids for Conference players, with one of the bids being above the £25,000 previously set as the club's record outlay for a player (namely striker Carl Alford).
"We have made bids for two players and, hopefully, we will find out more about that this week. They are both playing in the Conference at the present moment," explained Wilson.
"But we have to get players who are hungry and who are going to wear the shirt with pride. We have got to get back to winning ways and that may mean some making way for fresh blood", Wilson added.

Poor Poppies drop into bottom-half of table as miserable run continues with defeat at Worcester
Worcester City 2 Kettering Town 0
Kettering Town's winless streak stretched to nine matches as they crashed 2-0 following two second-half goals from Troy wood and Leon Kelly as Worcester piled on the misery at St George's Lane.
Kettering Town manager Kevin Wilson included Liam Nicell as promised and also brought in Neil Midgley up front. James Gould and Matt Lewis started on the bench alongside the returning Ollie Burgess.

Midgley's late penalty rescues Poppies at Knitters
Hinckley Utd 1 Kettering Town 1
Kettering Town make the short trip to Hinckley on Monday for their first match of the New Year and will be looking to halt the poor run of form which has seen them slip to 9th spot in the table and without a league win in seven matches.
With the return from suspension of goalkeeper Mark Osborn, there are three changes from their last match against Hinckley as Derek Brown replaces Craig McIlwain and Hugh MacAuley comes in for Ollie Burgess.
