Poor Poppies lose to bottom club
Kettering Town 1 Braintree Town 2
Despite having a full squad to chose from Dominic Genovese saw his side beaten at home by the bottom club, Braintree Town, who had previously leaked 10 goals in 3 games and scored just one. The Iron left Rockingham Rd with their first win of the season and the home supporters feeling bewildered. Kettering couldn't find a way past the visiting keeper in the first 45 minutes but it took just 60 seconds of the second-half before Ian King fired them in front direct from a free-kick. However, the home side failed to capitalise on several good opportunities to increase their lead and in the end paid a heavy price.
With a qtr-hour to go the visitors pulled level when Ben Cranfield bundled the ball over the line to make it 1-1 and in the dying seconds it was Mark Duckett who supplied the winner for the Iron after a bad defensive error allowed him in on goal and Kettering were embarrassingly beaten.
