After a winning start in their season opener Kettering Town are looking to continue their winning ways in their first away fixture of the season at King’s Lynn Town but they know it will be a tough match especially after the Linnets lost their opening fixture on Saturday.

It was bitter disappointment for Poppies as they were beaten 2-1 at King’s Lynn Town but the home side seemed to have the edge from the start and took a two-goal lead that Kettering never recovered from. It was a better late second period for Kettering and they pulled a goal back through Brett Solkhon almost at the death but it was a case of too little too late and at the final whistle they came up short.

It might have been a different story if, what looked like a good goal, was ruled out for Poppies but as the manager noted afterwards: “we weren’t up to the same standards as Saturday. Maybe it’s a bit of tiredness but once you kick off that should be out of your head. King’s Lynn were a bit sharper for us and we didn’t deal with Michael Gash all night”. Well it’s on to Saturday and the long trip to Darlington to see how much character Nicky Eaden’s side have.
