After a brief sidestep into the FA Cup last Saturday, it’s back to the bread and butter of the league this Saturday for table toppers Kettering Town. They entertain newcomers Leiston who are currently just two places below them in third spot. The Poppies will be hoping to maintain the form that has seen them win all six of their opening matches but will likely face a stern test at Latimer Park on Saturday.

A lacklustre performance from the home side saw Kettering slump to their first defeat of the season. Docherty gave the visitors the early lead after 13 minutes but the Poppies equalised through Brett Solkhon on 32 minutes from the penalty spot. A reaction from Brothers should really have been a red card but he somehow remained on the field.

Half-time:   Kettering Town 1   Leiston 1

The incident in the area where Brothers was fortunate not to receive a red card came back to haunt the Poppies when he scored the winner on 86 minutes. Rough justice for Kettering but they only have themselves to blame and will be looking to bounce back in the FA Cup next Saturday.
