Kettering Town travel to play Solihull Moors on Saturday to complete their penultimate preseason friendly with the new season now only one week away. Poppies boss John Beck will be putting his finishing touches to the squad over the next seven days ready for the big kick-off at Weymouth next Saturday.
Kettering in their now familiar White and Green preseason strip and their hosts are in a pink strip. John Beck opting to field a large number of trialists with some of the expected regulars possibly rested for Tuesday’s home game against Rotherham Utd. King and Hughes are among those playing who are expected to figure in Beck’s future plans.
A through ball lobbed over the static Poppies defence is latched onto by the Moors striker who smashed it past the Poppies trialist keeper and into the roof of the net. With fifteen minutes gone Poppies manager John Beck has already made two substitutions for Kettering.
A pass by Michael King finds a trialist who smashes the ball on the half-volley and the Moors keeper stood no chance as it flew past him and into the net. With 26 minutes gone Kettering are back on level terms at 1-1.

A tangle in the Poppies box at the start of the second-half and the referee has pointed to the penalty spot. Up steps Gavin Hurren to guide the ball into the bottom corner of the net and the home side are back in front with 50 minutes gone at Damson Park.
Laurie Walker comes on in goal for Kettering for the final fifteen minutes replacing youngster Mothorpe with the Poppies still trailing 2-1. The ball is played through into the area and a poor challenge on Junior English off the ball leaves the referee again pointing to the spot. Gavin Hurren steps up again and this time powers it down the middle and past Walker to make it 3-1 to Solihull Moors with 10 minutes remaining.
