Kettering Town host Football League Two outfit Rotherham Utd on Tuesday night in their final preseason fixture before Saturday’s big kick-off. The match will be Poppies manager John Beck’s last chance to see potential squad players in a competitive fixture before he has to decide on his starting team for Saturday’s trip to Weymouth in their campaign opener.

Kettering got off to a decent start against a strong Rotherham Utd team and should have gone ahead from the penalty spot on 38 minutes when a handball presented them with a golden opportunity. However Sean Bonnett-Johnson failed to convert the kick and the teams went into the half-time change goaless.

The second-half saw the expected mass changes in the Poppies lineup but still Kettering had their chances to get on the scoresheet but Byerley and Peake spurned chances and two late goals by Revell and Denton sealed the visitor’s victory.
